Vini Barbosa, a Near Intents advocate and content manager, revealed that Cardano could soon join Near Intents as the next supported token. This cross-chain execution layer enables users to swap assets without centralized exchanges, offering a seamless trading experience.

With the planned integration, Cardano holders will gain access to swaps with more than 100 tokens already available on Near Intents. This move is expected to increase ADA ($0.66)’s market depth while giving users an efficient tool for cross-chain interactions.

Members of the Near community first noticed the potential collaboration through PikesPeak, a native analytics protocol. Data showed the Near team testing a smart contract named “cardano.omft.near,” indicating preparations for ADA-to-Near swaps via Intents.

Hoskinson Confirms Contact with Near Team

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson confirmed the ongoing discussions between Cardano and Near teams. He hinted that integration plans are advancing, aligning with community speculations. Currently, Near Intents supports swaps for major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP ($2.48), Dogecoin, SUI ($2.49), and Near itself.

Intents acts as an abstraction tool that simplifies cross-chain transactions. It allows users to define an outcome while the system automatically handles the transaction process. By leveraging a network of “solvers,” Intents ensures users achieve their goals without manually building smart contracts.

Launched in beta in November 2024, Near Protocol fully rolled out Intents to the public earlier this year, expanding its interoperability offerings.

Cardano Expands Cross-Chain Partnerships

Cardano has actively pursued partnerships to boost interoperability. Beyond the Near Intents integration, Cardano’s Tokeo Wallet recently hinted at upcoming support for the XRPL Ledger. In recent months, Cardano has also secured wallet integrations. Brave added Cardano support in May, granting access to 70 million users, while Blockchain.com followed suit on July 17, offering access to its 37 million users.

Hoskinson continues leading efforts to unify the crypto space. His recent meetings with Ripple executives and Stellar’s co-founder reflect his commitment to building stronger cross-chain collaboration within the industry.
