Founder and former CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao has revealed that a president of an undisclosed country urged him to help list a token on the exchange. CZ disclosed on Wednesday through a post on his official X page in response to the controversies trailing token listing procedures on Binance. 

Zhao, in the post, mentioned how it is impossible for an individual or entity to help influence token listing on the exchange. Further, he emphasized that anyone claiming to be able to help with a Binance listing is a scammer. 

The former CEO urged all community members and project teams to report any middlemen, consultants, ex or current employees who claim they can help with token listing on the exchange. 

Furthermore, he added that the exchange will take serious action against such offenders and can even publish the issue for the general public. Consequently, CZ’s opinion reflects Binance’s recent clampdown against third-party involvement in its token listing process. 

On Wednesday, the exchange published a blog post, outlining the official procedures and requirements for token listing on its platform. Additionally, Binance emphasized that the project team should stop engaging third parties for listing, instead, they should apply directly to the exchange. 

Binance lists out fake listing agents, urges community to report suspicious activities 

As part of the clampdown, the exchange listed various individuals and organizations that falsely claimed to be Binance’s listing agents. Likewise, these entities, according to the announcement by Binance, approach project teams, demanding payment to help list their tokens on the exchange. 

In the post, Binance said “Please exercise caution and remember that Binance does not authorize anyone to offer such services.” The renowned crypto trading platform offered a huge reward for valid information about the “fraudulent listing agents.” 

Also, the exchange revealed a partial blacklist that consisted of fraudulent listing agents. On the list, Binance identified seven entities and individuals who falsely claim to represent the exchange. 

As revealed, names like Central Research, BitABC, Fiona Lee, and Suki Yang were all blacklisted. More so, Binance stressed that the list of perpetrators is not exhaustive, advising the community to remain vigilant and report fraudulent activities through its whistleblowing channel at audit@binance.com.

Recall that in recent years, Binance has endured serious scrutiny for its listing process. Before now, CZ has urged the exchange to revisit its procedures for listing new tokens and suggested an automated process similar to DEXs.
