PayPal, Liverpool partners to expand crypto adoption in football

Leading digital payment platform, PayPal has partnered with Liverpool FC to become the club’s official digital payment partner. PayPal confirmed the development in a blog post on Wednesday adding that been its first ever partnership with Premier league club, the collaboration positions the firm to pay football lovers around the world smartly.

As a leader in global payment infrastructure, PayPal has over 400 million active accounts across 20 markets. It also support transactions in over 25 currencies. With its wealth of experience in flexible payment solutions, PayPal plan to transform the way Liverpool FC fans engage with the club online and in person. 

PayPal to roll out PayPay+ loyalty programme

To achieve this transformative goal, the payments platform plans to roll out its very first free loyalty programme, PayPal+. As revealed, this programme let fans earn reward points when using PayPal for matchday purchases, enhancing their experience and boosting engagement. Participants will be rewarded based on their tier, whether Blue, Gold, or Black.

Additionally, PayPal is now accessible across all Liverpool FC digital platforms, with plans to become the club’s preferred digital payment method. Furthermore, PayPal branding will be prominently displayed at Anfield and St Helens during matches.

Geoff Seeley, PayPal’s Chief Marketing Officer, shared insights about the partnership. He mentioned that teaming up with LFC strengthens its ties with sports fans around the world. He added that it also builds on their existing partnerships with top professional and collegiate sports globally. The exec added that payment platform plans to offer a seamless and flexible experience that rewards fans for doing what they love.

Ben Latty, Liverpool FC’s Chief Commercial Officer, responded to the collaboration by describing PayPal as the original trust brand in digital payments. Latty added that PayPal’s expertise in powering payments makes them the perfect partner to elevate the global supporter experience for LFC. The exec added that partnering with the payment platform also provides an avenue for fans around the globe to engage with the club seamlessly and securely.
