Recently, blockchain security Scam Sniffer discovered that more and more crypto users are falling victim to the scam associated with malicious Telegram bots. Such verification bots as “OfficiaISafeguardBot” offer potential victims to download the malware which adversely affects wallets.  Fraudsters invite users into the Telegram channels to offer the latter fast access to information that no one else has, and then request an account authentication. The bot introduces the launch of an invalid PowerShell that enables developers to access private keys.  Scam Sniffer had reported scams with a loss of more than $3 million. This shifting new ‘scammer self-service’ model using fake X accounts and Telegram points to growing crypto risks.
