The Shiba Inu development team has called on the SHIB ($0.00) community to take part in a new token-burning initiative. Lucie, the team’s official marketing manager, took to X (formerly Twitter) to encourage SHIB holders to contribute to the reduction of the token’s circulating supply.
In her recent tweet, Lucie shared a link to Zora.co, a crypto platform that also offers social media features. Notably, she used what appears to be her personal affiliate link. Zora.co has recently expanded its user base by tapping into BASE, the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain launched by Coinbase.
Lucie framed the tweet as an “Invitation to BASE fam!” clearly aimed at users within the BASE ecosystem. She urged real SHIB holders to support token burns conducted on Shibarium, the layer-2 blockchain created for the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
How SHIB Burns Work on Shibarium
Token burns on Shibarium occur through transaction fees paid in BONE tokens. Every transfer, whether standalone or part of a decentralized application (dApp), contributes to the SHIB burn mechanism. The network collects part of these BONE fees and later converts them into SHIB tokens, which it sends to unspendable wallets thereby permanently removing them from circulation.

Earlier this week, the SHIB development team launched a major upgrade to its burn system. This enhancement ensures that SHIB tokens are now burned automatically and in real time from all on-chain activities. According to the announcement, every action such as swaps, liquidity provisioning, and other transactions will now trigger live token burns.
Over 1.25 Billion SHIB Burned in One Week
The “Shibarium Updates” X account recently reported that 1,254,539,419 SHIB tokens were burned within a seven-day period. Four key transactions contributed significantly to this total: 21.79 million, 15.06 million, 14.57 million, and 15.87 million SHIB were burned between June 2 and June 5.
Despite the impressive weekly burn figures, the SHIB burn rate has sharply declined in the last 24 hours. According to the Shibburn tracker, only 90,439 SHIB tokens were destroyed during that time frame a drop of 64.83%.
