ChainCatcher 消息，有“美联储传声筒”之称的《华尔街日报》记者 Nick Timiraos 发文表示，特朗普称美联储主席鲍威尔是“主要输家”，但他与美联储争吵的更大输家可能是特朗普明年选择的接替杰伊·鲍威尔的人。因为通过抨击美联储来影响政策，特朗普可能会给自己的提名人制造“怀疑阴影”。

曾在 1999 年至 2001 年担任克林顿政府财政部长的劳伦斯·萨默斯表示，“历任总统公开抨击美联储是愚蠢之举。美联储要么不听，要么听了却感到压力，需要证明其独立性，这意味着短期利率将保持不变甚至更高”。
